Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

Guardian won’t join your Wi-Fi, or it dropped offline? Most of it clears up in a few minutes.

Before you begin

Start With The Basics

A quick gut-check before the steps below. If one of these is off, start there.

Guardian is powered on and the screen is lit.

Your Wi-Fi works on other devices in the home.

You’re within range of your wireless router.

Work through these

Find What’s Happening

Tap the one that matches, then work down the steps and stop when it’s sorted.

  1. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on. Open Settings, Internet, Wi-Fi and toggle it on. Wi-Fi is off out of the box, which is the most common reason a network doesn’t show up.
  2. Check that your router is powered on and broadcasting your network.
  3. Move Guardian closer to your router to rule out a weak signal.
  4. Open the Wi-Fi list again under Settings, Internet, Wi-Fi and look for your network.
  1. Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive. Double-check your capitals, numbers, and symbols.
  2. Not sure of it? Confirm the password on another connected device or in your router settings.
  3. Re-enter it carefully and tap Connect.
  1. Confirm your internet is working on other devices on the same network.
  2. Check the connection indicator in the top-right of Guardian’s screen.
  3. Restart Guardian with the power button, wait for it to fully boot, then check again.
On a business or office-managed network? Outbound connections are sometimes blocked, which keeps Guardian from reaching your dashboard. See our Advanced Network Configuration guide, or reach out to HomeCleanse and we’ll send your IT team the details.

Common Questions

Quick answers to the things people ask most.

Yes. If Wi-Fi isn’t ideal where Guardian sits, you can use a wired connection instead — see the Ethernet Troubleshooting guide.

Managed networks (corporate, healthcare, education) sometimes need firewall or allowlist changes before a new device can talk out. Our Advanced Network Configuration guide covers this, or contact HomeCleanse and we’ll send your IT admin exactly what Guardian needs.

Try the steps above first. A factory reset clears the device’s settings, so do it only if a HomeCleanse guide walks you through it. Call or text and we’ll help.

Still stuck?

We’ll Take It From Here

If Guardian still won’t connect and nothing above did the trick, don’t wrestle with it. Call or text and a real HomeCleanse guide will pick up where this page left off.
