Updating Your Guardian Firmware

Guardian keeps itself up to date. Updates install automatically in the background, much like your phone, and usually finish in a minute or two. Guardian restarts on its own when it is done, and the HomeCleanse Guardian app lets you know once a new version is installed. You do not need to do anything. If you would ever like to confirm your version yourself, here is how.

Good questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I check for updates?+
There is no fixed schedule. Checking now and then, or any time you are troubleshooting, keeps Guardian current.
Do I need Wi-Fi to update?+
Not specifically — but it does need an internet connection. Guardian can pull the update over Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection, whichever it is using. Either way, keep that connection steady while the update downloads.
Will my settings be erased?+
No — installing firmware leaves your settings and history in place. The only thing that clears them is Factory Reset, which wipes all settings and data. It sits on the same View Details screen as the Check button, so make sure you’re tapping Check, not Reset.
My Guardian says it’s already up to date.+
You are all set. That means you are running the latest firmware currently available for your device.

Troubleshooting

The Update Won’t Start

Confirm Guardian is connected to the internet and to power, and that the last update was not interrupted. If it still will not start, contact Support.

The Update Seems Stuck

If Guardian looks unresponsive for an unusually long time, contact Support before disconnecting power.
